What's Happening with Impacto...

August

Praise God for seeing us through another month. Time is going by fast but every day we are reminded why we are here. As much as we love feeding the children at Happy Tummies or easing the pain of the Abuelitos, we know that our number one reason to be here is to share the Gospel. "And the gospel must first be preached to all nations." Mark 13:10

A big thank you to the teams who came and ministered alongside us this past summer. So many souls came to the Lord, so many were led to reconciliation, and many more seeds were planted! To God be the Glory!

We ask that you keep Impacto in your prayers as we have many big events coming up. We have the V Annual Pastor's Congress happening in September and we will be hosting around 150 pastors! In October we have a spiritual retreat for the youth leaders who will be attending Zona Zero in December! Come December, we will be holding our youth camp, Zona Zero, where we hope to minister to more than 150 teens from all over the country! Christmas Festival Week is also in December. We'll be celebrating Christmas with the HT children, the Abuelitos, Impacto cooks, HT workers, PL workers, and the men that work hard on year-round construction projects. We'll also have a day with the Pastors who attend our monthly training which is 75 Pastors! There are many people we'll be celebrating with and that week might be their biggest celebration of the year. It's our way of thanking them for a great year of ministering. As many of you know the small fee to attend the Pastors Congress and Zona Cero barely covers the expenses. Impacto wants to make sure everyone has a chance to attend and be filled by God's Word. Thank you to each of you who have given and prayed towards Impacto's ministry efforts. We know God is doing big things in Guatemala and we are preparing for even bigger things that He will send our way!

Delfino

This is Mr. Delfino who is part of our Abuelitos program. He is 85 years old and has been a widower for 20 years. He absolutely loves gardening; it's, as he calls it, his passion. Delfino comes to Abuelitos every day at 6:00 a.m. You see, Delfino has the key to the door of where the Abuelitos' garden is located. He says that he loves being able to show up, work for a couple hours, enjoy nature, and spend some quiet alone time in the garden. Delfino says he loves that after tending to the garden he is able to go inside and is greeted by a warm meal and afterwards he is able to sit down and hear the Word of God. Because of his age Delfino is having a hard time reading now, so he loves that after his breakfast someone will read the Bible to him and share a devotional with him. He is so thankful that he gets to stay around after that and either go back to the garden or color, draw, paint, or just fellowship with the other Abuelitos. His family stays pretty busy during the day, so if it wasn't for him being a part of Abuelitos he says he'd be pretty lonely. We feel so blessed to have Delfino be a part of Abuelitos and our lives. Thank you so much to all of you who give financially and constantly pray for our Abuelitos' ministry.

This month I want to share with you a little bit about who God is and for you to get to know Him a little better. (Although, it would take more than this corner to study His attributes!)

2 Corinthians 4:6 "For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ." In this verse Paul prays that we may be able to know more about God's glory.

John the Apostle, in the revelation he had on the days to come, gives us a taste of His glory. "The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp." Revelation 21:23

The Psalmist, David, puts it this way in Psalm 8, "Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"

I urge you to meditate on the Glory of God, to know Him and fall deeper in love with Him.

Healing Hands

Be sure you check out the video for this new ministry opportunity that God has put before us. In all of our ministry efforts our priority is to tell people about God and share the salvation plan. At the same time we feel called to help them physically as well. Sometimes all they need is an Ibuprofen or Tylenol while other times they need antibiotics for a serious infection, an infection that could eventually take their lives.
