January 2017

The first month of 2017 has come to an end. Our staff is feeling blessed about what God has revealed to us for this year. We, of course, have many hopes, dreams, and expectations but we are learning to trust in God and follow His hopes, dreams, and expectations. How exciting it is to work for the Kingdom!
The parents of the middle school children are so thankful for what is being done for them this year. They are excited that we have internet, computers, printers, and a library. This means the students have no reason to use the computers at the internet cafe, saves the parents money, and keeps them in a safer environment. We keep calling them kids and children but they are now teenagers! It is such a privilege to be a part of their lives and to have seen them grow. And, what a blessing to see their relationship with Christ flourish! Thank you to all who have supported these youth.
The younger kids are adjusting to school and Happy Tummies nicely. We had a few kids in HT San Juan move away so we have a few new kids! In HT Panyebar we've been able to add some so now there are 30 children participating! This is a big step of faith seeing as how these ministries aren't fully funded. There is no doubt in our hearts and minds that this is what God is calling us to do! We are so excited to be a part of their lives and hope to teach them and show them about the love of Jesus and His amazing story of salvation!

How do I Know that What
I'm Doing is Correct?

"Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God." Acts 5:38-39

There are times when we've asked God's direction in making a decision and God's answer might not have been very encouraging. Especially when His answer is "NO." Sometimes we don't quite process the answer we were not expecting or did not want to hear. This is the moment when, many times, we have the desire to do what WE think is correct or best for us. In reality, the One who knows what will be the very best for us is the Lord. We then notice that we've been fighting against God, against His will, against what He wants for our lives. The saddest part is that even though we know we're going against His will, a lot of times we continue to try it our way. These verses are the words of Gamaliel, teacher of the law, when people were trying to kill the apostles for preaching God's Word.

"Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."
Acts 5:38-39

I don't think it's a good idea to fight against God. If what you are doing comes from you it won't last; but, if it's from God nobody will be able to destroy it.

A DOLLAR A DAY

A lot of things can be done with $1 a day. Many fast food places have a dollar menu. You can go to the Dollar Store and buy many different things! Here in Guatemala you can help us feed a child for ONE DOLLAR a day! That's all it takes! One dollar a day for the month for us to feed a child. Not only will he/she be fed physically but he/she will be fed spiritually. We have seen the lives of children change over the years at Happy Tummies. We've seen them go from hungry, sad, lonely kids to nourished, happy kids who are learning God's Word and filling up with His love! We've seen changes in their families brought on by the changes in them. God is using Happy Tummies to come into the homes of families who were once lost but now they are found! We praise His holy name! Please consider supporting this ministry with $1 a day each month.
