A quick update from Impacto

PRAISES & PRAYER REQUESTS

Easter is a day to remember we have many things for which to be thankful. The one thing we should be most thankful for is that Jesus was willing to give His life for us. God sent His only Son to die for our sins so that we may dwell with Him in eternity. W hile many were mourning the death of Jesus, our God was preparing one of His biggest miracles: Jesus' resurrection!

To God be the glory!

We know this is a busy weekend for many of you, celebrating with friends and family. We hope you will take a few seconds to rejoice with us in what God is doing here. Please, also, join us in prayer for a few things that lay heavy in our hearts.

Praises

- Through our Healing Hands ministry, we were able to send Juanita and our two friends, Diego and Diego, to the ophthalmologist in Guatemala City. The doctor confirmed what we already knew: Juanita had completely lost sight in one eye and there was nothing that could be done. But then we heard the good news, her other eye, which we thought she was loosing, is working great! She has eye drops she needs to use daily and will have to get checked every 4 months. However, our hearts are rejoicing in the fact that this sweet little girl will not be completely blind.

- Thanks to a Sunday School class in Tuscaloosa [AL] we have been able to add 10 kids to participate in Happy Tummies Panyebar.

- Because of an awesome blessing left by a team from Iowa we were able to host the ladies of Stitches of Blessings and help them complete an apron!

- The money for the insulation and drop ceiling is in! Praise God and thank you to all those who prayed and donated towards this. We hope to have this installed soon and have pictures to share.

I have a verse for you...

Requests

- We are very low on sponsors for Abuelitos and Happy Tummies San Juan. Please join us in prayer so that God may provide for these ministries.

- Spiritual strength for our staff as well as physical strength.

- Continued prayers for Sarah Poythress as she continues to recover from knee surgery.

- Please continue to pray for provision for the library doors and windows. We are sure that the library will be of great benefit for all the kids and teens in Happy Tummies.

- Join us in prayer as we make decisions during the building process for the Abuelitos site; we need wisdom to make the best decisions.

Eliseo, Juan, & Angelica

Meet Eliseo, Juan, and Angelica. They are the newest kids at Happy Tummies San Juan. We met them not too long ago when they moved in near Happy Tummies. We noticed they attended school each afternoon. Though we usually don't take younger kids in the morning, seeing them just broke our hearts. We noticed that even though they lived with their mom they would spend a big part of the morning alone. Sometimes their mom would be home but she would be drunk; sometimes she would be home and not drinking but would have nothing to feed the kids. So, we made an exception and two weeks ago they started coming to Happy Tummies in the morning. As mentioned earlier, we are struggling a bit with donors for San Juan, but we know that God will provide just as we know these kids need to be there. The first day they came we pulled out a kids Bible to use in telling them a Bible story. We aren't following our planned lessons with them because they have no idea who Jesus is! We're starting slowly. That first day we told them the story of the creation and let them look at the pictures in the children's Bible. They were mesmerized both by the story and the pictures! They loved hearing about God and asked us to tell them the story a second time! It was both heartwarming and heartbreaking to watch three little ones be so hungry for Jesus .

Many of you might remember Estella, mom of Karla and Bella. It was such a testimony when Estella came to share with us that she had been to visit and talk with Esther (the 3 new kids' mom) and had encouraged her to try to get her life together. Estella also told Esther to trust us to love her children and that if Esther ever needed prayer, Estella would love to visit her and bring Esther to us for special prayer. There are rumors in town that Esther is a prostitute but we don't know this for a fact. Estella told Esther that she knew it was quicker to make easy money but that it was not pleasing to God and it was not a good example for her kids. We know from experience that it's best to go slowly and not to 'attack' someone with the Bible, but to pray constantly for her. Our hearts are overwhelmed to know that someone we've been praying for and ministering to for the past 5 years is now at a place where she is ministering to others! Wow! Our God truly is amazing!

Please join us in praying for Esther, Eliseo, Juan, and Angelica. May God use Impacto as an instrument to bring them to Him.
