News from Impacto

Wow! We cannot find words to describe what the last 3 months have been. June, July, and August are what we call our ´busy´months. We had teams every week back-to-back; some weeks there were multiple teams sharing the week. It has been long. It has been tiring. But most of all, it has been a huge blessing! During these 3 months we've seen seeds being planted, we've seen a harvest of souls for the Kingdom, and we've seen many rededicate their lives to Christ. Our staff worked hard and we saw God work in us and through us as He took us out of our comfort zones. We were privileged to make new friends and see old ones. Our family in Christ has grown.

Thank you. Thank you for joining us in ministry, whether it was physically here in Guatemala, praying for Impacto, or donating faithfully. God has done great things and we know He will continue.

During our Pastor´s training a group of women pulled Dinora aside. They told her they were thankful for the trainings, and not only did Impacto feed them spiritually but physically, too. They gave her a beautiful blouse to show their appreciation.

A few weeks ago we received an email from a dear friend sharing with us her experience during Home Visits. Home Visits is one of our favorite ministries. It truly lets us connect with the families of Happy Tummies. What a beautiful testimony this is...

Good morning!

Just wanted to let you know I keep all of you in my prayers and think often of the ministry you do and the hearts you have touched. I was looking through pictures from our March trip. You have no idea how much this past trip helped me personally as I realize it helped me with the grieving process after losing my parents as I saw God at work in so many ways. I thought I'd share one of those special moments that I cherish.

On the home visit to Victor's home God touched my heart in so many ways. First seeing Victor so excited that we were visiting his home and the smile on his face in his family photo is precious. Later seeing him work so hard on homework and the photo we gave him of when he received our school supplies. It was one of my favorites because I saw how carefully he decorated his shoe box with his name on it. Victor is forever in my heart. I hope he is doing well.

Biviana, Victor's Mom will also be forever in my heart. I treasure this picture of her holding my Mom's shoes that we gave her. When she heard they were my Mom's I saw the look in her eyes and felt the love in her heart as she said a prayer for me through the interpreter. Yes a prayer for me when we were there to pray for them...I will never forget that moment. I hope she too is doing well along with all of Victor's family.

Pastor Luis' Corner

One of the books I just finished talks about discernment. This caused a huge impact on me. So much so that it has lead me to do more research. Secular dictionaries say discernment is the ability to make right and/or correct decisions. But the Word of God gives us a much better or clearer explanation. The Bible says that discernment is the ability to be able to decide between truth and error, between good and evil. Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our mind.

"but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil." 1 Thesalonians 5:21-22

The key to live a successful life is in our ability to practice discernment in each area of our lives. But watch out! Satan wants to confuse our good discernment.

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." Isaiah 5:20

In the Bible we learn that we can ask God for discernment. Here is, what I think, the best Biblical example.

"So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?" 1 Kings 3:9

Solomon had been chosen by God to be king. He was in his early 20's. On his inauguration day Solomon said these words to God in prayer.

I encourage you to ask for discernment from the only One who can give it so that you do not mess up your life and the lives of those around you. Pray today for discernment.
