Greetings!
Holy Week is such a special time in Guatemala. All the kids are out of school for the week, and almost everyone has Thursday-Sunday off from work. Families all get together, people travel, many go to the beach and the pool; it's the start of our summer! However, it's so much more than that! It's a reminder of the week prior to Jesus' death, but most importantly His resurrection! We hope that you take this weekend to reflect on what the death of Jesus Christ means to us as Christians. Also, we hope you take the time to rejoice and worship Him for the miracle that was His resurrection. Take this weekend to not ask Jesus for anything, but to spnd time thanking and praising His name. "And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" Isaiah 9:6(b). He is all that and more! He is our Wonderful Savior, Creator, Bread of Life, Jehovah, our Rock, our Redeemer and all that is good in this evil world! May His name be forever glorified! | | Our staff went up to Poacorral this month! We were able to take socks, hats, gloves, mittens, scarfs, clothes, jackets, sweaters, and more! This was all brought by teams that came to minister this year! Poacorral is far up in the mountains and it's very cold up there. Even during the summer months early mornings and nights can reach freezing temps! We are so grateful to all those who brought, and those who sent all these things! May God bless you richly! | | It's Hard for Me to Understand the Kingdom of God, but Easy to Understand the Kingdom of Men | John 18 :33,34, & 36 says, "Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
“Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?” Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
When Jesus said, that His Kingdom is not of this world it's because His Kingdom has different rules from earthly kingdoms. Earthly kingdoms are preparing themselves with the most massive weapons to destroy their enemies. Everyone is always finding ways to take advantage of others. We want our own space. We fight for our comfort zone. We try to accumulate as much as we possibly can. But I want you to meditate, during this Easter weekend, on the rules of His Kingdom and try to practice them. These are the rules of the Kingdom of God:
But to you who are listening I say: "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."
