As many of you have noticed and are asking why, there have been many posted scriptures by Friends of Impacto in the last month. We were not at liberty to share with everyone during this trying time due to being cautioned by our lawyer to not email, not talk on the phone, and not post on social media about the situation. Now, we are able to share and want to do so in order to give glory and praise to God for His grace and mercy. The entire situation was beyond our control but we serve a God who is never out of control!
This is the “story” in a brief nutshell:
In 2005 Tony lived with his parents, sister, and niece in a neighborhood in Guatemala City. One night they heard someone breaking into their car. Tony, on impulse, ran outside. In the middle of the discussion with him one of the security guards of the neighborhood took out his gun and, for reasons unknown to us, shot the thief, ending his life. After firing his gun, that officer ran away. The authorities found no cause to further investigate.
In 2010 the case was reopened; however, Tony was never notified. Since 2010 Tony has traveled out of the country, been pulled over on routine traffic checks, and nothing has ever come up. But on November 13, as he was traveling to the lake, he was pulled over on a routine traffic stop. The officer informed Tony that he was part of an investigation and that he (the officer) had to detain Tony. Gratefully we can tell you that Tony was finally released on December 14, around 3:30 p.m., and we have been rejoicing and praising God!
We have faith that God will continue to carry us and, in His time, totally resolve the situation. Satan is powerful but He is no match for our Sovereign God. We also have been praying that God will provide for the legal expenses now facing us. Again, we know that God will provide and we are hesitant to ask for your financial support, especially because it is not for one of our ministry efforts. However, God’s Word tells us, “...you do not have because you do not ask.” So, we are just putting this out there and asking if you would pray about helping us. Please know that any help you send will be a tremendous blessing in so many ways. Until the investigation is entirely completed, we won’t know if there will be any fines added to the lawyer's fee. Our prayers include the family of the young man who was killed, that they will find peace and closure.
We ask that you lift this situation in prayer and that God may continue to work in miraculous ways.
God has been more than gracious and Impacto’s ministry efforts have not stopped and will not stop! We know that He will use someone, anyone to do His ministry if they are willing. He sent us great helpers to carry out Zona Cero and the Christmas Festival weeks and we thank them from the depths of our hearts! God even blessed efforts by allowing us to see souls won for the Kingdom.
