September 15 is when Guatemala celebrates Independence Day! This year Guatemala is celebrating 198 years of Independence! This past week has been a whirlwind to say the least. We ministered alongside a Medical Team from St. James UMC. Each year they bring a team of doctors and a dentist. The dentist only does extractions; due to restraints of time and resources fillings are not provided. The team saw many, many people and worked long days. They were usually eating breakfast by 6:30 am and weren’t making it back to the Promised Land till late - they didn’t make it back till just after 9:30 pm on two separate nights. Add this to a week full of parades, rehearsals, and celebrations and it made for a week full of stories to tell!
Below are a few Praises we’d like to share with you so that you may rejoice with us and praise our God for what He has done. We’d also like to share a few Requests with you as we know that there is power in numbers!
PRAISES

  • We are praising God that Juanita had a successful surgery. She made it through, woke up, and her eye seems to be healing nicely.

  • Praise God for another year of Independence for Guatemala. Though the country might be far from perfect there are many that love God fiercely.

  • All glory to God for seeing the advancements in the Abuelitos Land! Praise God for each team that has worked hard on this construction.
"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:3
REQUESTS

  • Please continue to pray for healing for Juanita, we won’t get answers from pathology for another month. We wish we could speed things up but that’s just how things work here. Pray for a clean report and for the tumor to never grow back.

  • Pray for Guatemala, for our political leaders, that each will have wisdom and that they will all glorify the Lord through their lives and the way they will govern Guatemala.

  • We welcome prayers as we are preparing for two of our bigger events nearing the end of the year. 1) Pastors Congress -- it’s from October 21-24. Pray that we all have time and energy to finish what is needed; and that all Pastors and leaders will leave with their hearts full. 2) Zona Cero -- it’s from December 4-7. Pray for our staff to be prepared and speak life into these teens, that they will see God’s love in us and that many will come to the Lord, make new commitments in Him, and grow in Him.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Matthew 9:36
