Here we are, halfway through June! Our hearts ache as in years past, June is the beginning of our team season. This year we are sad to know we won’t be seeing so many friends and meeting new friends. Teams are such a big part of the ministry. The blessings teams bring to the people here are tremendous! We’ve seen throughout the years that many times you might not see the impact right away. However, our staff, who lives here full time, has seen the ripple effect from each team that has served alongside us. Though we will miss everyone we know God has big plans and we are praying and keeping up our faith and hope that we will see you all again. 
  • We praise God because we have seen the recovery of those who had COVID-19 in San Juan. Our biggest concern was the lack of medicine and ventilators and other resources. But praise God, we saw the symptoms be mild to none! There are still quite a bit of families under quarantine and we are praying for quick and complete healing!

  • Praise be to God for He is teaching our staff so much through this quarantine. We are having virtual meetings regularly and are eager to share some exciting plans, ideas, and adjustments you’ll be seeing. Watch for more in the next few weeks! 

  • All praise to God, as last week Juanita had surgery to remove the shrunken tumor. The doctors are very hopeful and she had no major pain or discomfort after surgery! Thank you to all who continue to support Juanita, making it possible for her and her father to travel to and from Panyebar and Guatemala City.

  • God is teaching us so much during this quarantine. He is working in the hearts of each of us and teaching us to dig deeper into His Word. He is helping us to refocus our strength and energy for the ministry ahead. We pray that each of you have grown during this time and have submerged yourself deeper into the Lord and His purpose for your life.

  • We have seen around 10 people come to Christ through the new Church on Wheels ministry! To God be all the glory!

  • We ask that you pray for wisdom and knowledge for our staff. We are planning our next steps for after quarantine. We know the world as a whole will see so much pain, hurt, and need once this is over. Pray that God will use us to be His light during this time. 

  • Join us in praying for a miracle. For the Coronavirus to disperse and quarantine to be lifted. 

  • Be with us as we lift in prayer the peace and unity of the entire world. That all of us, as Christians, will have the wisdom, discernment, and knowledge to be the light in a world with so much darkness.
MISSIONARY MINUTE

Before I married Luis I never, in a million years, imagined I would be a Pastor’s wife. However, as newlyweds (1985) we planted our very first church together in Guatemala City. After that, life felt like a whirlwind! We had two daughters and worked harder in ministry. Luis would travel all over the country and outside of the country preaching and sharing the gospel. During this time my ministry focus was our daughters and the church in Guatemala City. 

In 1995 we moved to the U.S.A. for what we thought would be 3 months of visiting churches, raising our support, and learning to speak better English. However, God had different plans and called us to stay in the U.S.A. to plant a Spanish-speaking church. From there we helped plant close to 10 other churches around the East Coast. 

Luis continued to travel for evangelistic crusades and began the ministry of short-term mission teams to Guatemala. I could not travel as much as our daughters were in school, and I had a job. I worked at Sears for a few years, and then God opened the doors for me to work with World Hope International. This was a huge learning experience for me; experience that I find useful to this day. 

After our daughters went to college I was able to travel with Luis more and started being more active within Impacto. As time went on, I left my job in the States, which at that time was being a receptionist at New Life Church in Maryland. It took some time, but I am so happy to dedicate myself full time to the ministry with Impacto. I praise God that He gave the privilege and desire of my heart to work with the people in Guatemala.
