Is it just us or did April fly by? Maybe for you it was a long month. Maybe a month of happiness? Maybe one of sorrow? Maybe a month where you felt like you were losing your mind! Whatever the situation was, I think we can all agree it has been challenging. Watching the news, hearing of cases and deaths rising, making the decision of whether to get vaccinated or not, if you feel safe traveling or not yet, if you feel safe to visit family, to attend in-person church and school, and so many other decisions to make! Our staff has been lifting all of humanity in prayer, and we often feel contradicted in our prayer. We pray for Jesus to come soon and take us home, at the same time we pray for Him to give us more time as there are so many still have not heard the Good News! So, we hope that you join us in sharing with as many as you can about the love of Jesus and how only through Him we can find salvation and eternal life.

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made..."
Psalm 139:14a [NIV]
Knowing God
Three of God’s greatest attributes are that He is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent:
- Omnipresence – He is everywhere.
- Omnipotent – He is all-powerful.
- Omniscient – He is all-knowing.
In Psalm 139 we can see these three attributes.
His omnipresence, verses 7-12 say, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”
His omnipotence we can see in verse 14, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
We can see in verse 16 His omniscience, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Let us get to know God better through His attributes
HAPPY TUMMIES IS GROWING!
As you know we have started Happy Tummies in a very poor area in Guatemala City with a lot of need. Our wish is to double the number of children being served, however, due to COVID restrictions we cannot do that at this moment. Still, next week our staff is traveling to Zacapa to start a Happy Tummies there!
Zacapa is in an area of Guatemala nicknamed “The Dry Corridor.” Rain is scarce here and the land is not as easy to harvest as the rest of the country. The population is about 10.5 million people and there is an average of 70% chronic malnutrition. Most people live from work provided by big watermelon and cantaloupe farms but the job only lasts a few months out of the year and can put their lives at risk for many different reasons. When you read the statistics your heart drops; you feel helpless and like you will never be able to do enough to help everyone.
Nonetheless, when you reach our church in Zacapa and the children and women come out to greet you, and they have big smiles, hug you, and bring you watermelons and cantaloupes. You simply cannot help but feel more blessed by them than you could ever give to them in return.
Once again this is another Happy Tummies that, like the others, we could double in size, yet, due to COVID restrictions we will not be able to do that just yet. We are so excited to watch the children grow and mold into the likeness of Christ through Happy Tummies. As we always say, the food is important and though it will bring temporary relief we want to make sure they know where their eternity lies and how Jesus is “the trut h, the way, and the life.” If you would like to support our efforts of sharing the Gospel through our four Happy Tummies (and more to come, God willing) you can read more about our Happy Tummies program and find ways to partner with us through our website under Compassion Ministries / Happy Tummies.
