What a fantastic month April has been! We are in awe of everything God is doing, not just in Guatemala, but all over the world! News outlets and social media are full of so much evil news about politics, crime, corruption, and death. We are often bombarded with so much horridness that we lose sight of God’s purpose for us. However, this past month served as a reminder of His purpose and as we celebrated Jesus’ death and resurrection we reflected on His purpose. We, our brothers and sisters, are called to be light and salt to this world. We are called to fulfill the Great Commission, to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20a
This month God has given us many opportunities as individual members of the staff. We have all been able to sit around the table and share, without breaking confidentiality, about having the privilege to disciple those in our community on a more personal matter. Our end goal, as you may have guessed, is to give bring each soul closer to God and to give God all the honor and glory!
As we are on the subject of the Great Commission, we encourage you to continue to join short-term mission teams, to bring your spouses, your teenagers, your children, your neighbors, and anyone else who will join you. In every team we create local connections which we are then able to nurture, whether it’s thorough our immediate staff or other ministry partners!
WON'T YOU PLEASE HELP US?
There is a song that says a little is a lot in the hands of the Lord. This is exactly what happened in the New Testament. In John 6 a child brought 5 pieces of bread and two fish; Jesus then performed a miracle and used this food to feed about twenty thousand people! There were even 12 full baskets left over!
Summer is approaching and with that the opening of our Happy Tummies number seven is becoming a reality. Eighty-four children are waiting for a sponsor. They are waiting for your help so they can be fed and have a happy tummy. As they attend Happy Tummies, they also learn how to have a happy heart.
If you, your family or friends would like to help us get this Happy Tummies started, would you consider doing a fundraiser activity? It can be a car wash, selling pastries or any other ideas for raising funds. I’m sure you will have a lot of fun and at the same time you can help raise funds to feed these new 84 hungry children. Not only will you help with their bodily hunger, you will help reach them, their parents, and family for the Lord. This is a way you can be part of the Great Commission.
If you are already involved in this ministry, we would like to thank you. If you are not already involved, we encourage you to be part of the ripple effect that carries the Gospel to so many homes!
Serving Christ together,
Pastor Luis
