Healing Hands & Pharmacy

Many people come to us for medicine that they cannot afford. Medical teams leave meds they do not use during their week of holding clinics. These meds are given to those who come in need and if we don't have the med needed, we purchase it in Jesus' name.

Healing Hands

The Healing Hands ministry supports children and families in medical crisis.

Healthcare is not stable in rural areas of Guatemala. Each town should have a health center with free medicine, doctors, and nurses. Sadly, that is not the case. Most of the time both medicine and medical support are limited and restrained. So for a sick person, living in a poverty situation in rural areas of Guatemala, to get a special kind of medical treatment is nearly impossible.

That’s where our ministry tries to support very sick children and other vulnerable populations in the communities we serve. We support ill children or family members who need help, providing medical and financial support so they can go through surgeries or drastic medical treatment, while always providing most needed spiritual and emotional support.

Pharmacy

Impacto's Healing Hands & Pharmacy provide a great outreach opportunity to our community. A doctor comes for 1 full week each month to hold clinics and check the Happy Tummies children and Abuelitos. For now, this ministry is centered in San Juan; however, the clinics and churches around the lake are very much aware that if needed, we will get medicines that we have to them. Our small Pharmacy is replenished thanks to donations, mostly from people in the U.S.A.

Also, a lot of the medicines are leftovers from the medical teams we host so the Pharmacy is totally free; no one is charged for any of the medicines that are given out to people in need. This has been a great ministry tool and it is just one more way we are able to serve our Abuelitos, Happy Tummies children, and their families. We also donate items to the local free health clinics; when they don’t have something in stock, they tell the patients about our pharmacy and many come looking for us. This is a great opportunity for us to connect with other people in the community who we might not come across, and it gives us a chance to pray with them for their health. This opens the doors to them sharing other prayer requests and letting us be able to share the Gospel with them!

Support Healing Hands financially

Bring a medical team

As mentioned before, health care is not stable in Guatemala. Most of the time the health centers don’t have doctors or even medicine to give. Many people don’t have the means necessary to pay for a visit to the doctor let alone medicine. Dentists also are very rare in some towns and many people here don’t see a dentist visit as affordable. Sometimes there are sicknesses/diseases that we have to transfer to a specialist. However, many times it’s a quick recovery as long as the ones who are ill have the appropriate medications, which they usually don’t.

Here is where medical teams become an amazing support for our communities. Medical/Dental clinics are a great way to bring healing and hope to them; firstly, through medical care and medicines, but secondly, allowing the team to minister, for while people are waiting in line to see the doctor and get their medicine there is a plethora of ways to share and show the love of Christ.

If you have a heart for people and would be interested in bringing a medical team and supplies to Guatemala, please pray for God to provide the leadership with wisdom and the necessary funding. Your contribution would be a tremendous blessing. You can see our Get Involved page for more information.
